About Habitat for Humanity of Dane County
Habitat for Humanity of Dane County’s (HFHDC) mission is to bring communities of volunteers, families, and sponsors of all types together to build homes for people in need. Habitat strengthens families through homeownership and stabilizes communities through homeownership training, rehabs, and new builds. Current home building projects are under way in Sun Prairie, Madison, and Oregon, helping establish healthy new neighborhoods in Dane County. The largest Habitat development in state history, Town Hall Crossing, includes an investment of $3M in infrastructure, creating a 62-acre housing development in Sun Prairie. HFHDC is a Gold Star nonprofit (GuideStar designation) that has built over 330 homes in Dane County. HFHDC receives sponsorship, volunteer hours, and funds from hundreds of organizations and individuals in Dane County, in addition to revenue from its two growing ReStores on Madison’s east and west sides, which provide sustainable and eco-friendly solutions to recycle home furnishings and building supplies and reduce landfills. HFHDC recently opened a new administrative office on Odana Road on Madison's West side alongside a larger ReStore and warehouses, adding significant capacity for growth. As a part of Habitat for Humanity worldwide, HFHDC benefits from the expertise and collaboration opportunities with Habitat for Humanity’s work in 50 states and 70 countries.
